Aquamarine’s first known use was in Greece between 300 and 500 B.C. Its name comes from a Latin word meaning 'water of the sea'. According to folklore, aquamarine was believed to be mermaids’ treasure and was worn to bring good luck, eternal youth and happiness. It is metaphysically known as a stone of courage and fortitude and is said to assist with quick intellectual response and calm communication. But, mostly, these gems quickly become every-day favorites and make us feel pretty. They are 13mm octagon shaped.
